Location: 117
Accommodations:
Red Parrot (RP) is an
original authentic South Padre duplex beach house—up on stilts. The
duplex has two identical layouts joined by a connecting door (open for full
house rentals if requested in advance) and the 4 entrances on the wrap-around
porch. You can rent the entire house--or half.
Each side has a master bedroom w/ bath, 2 additional bedrooms, a 2nd bath, a
kitchen and living area. The bedrooms on each side sleep 7 on good, comfortable
beds. There’s room for 2 more on each side on sleeper sofas in the living
areas.
RP is well built—there was no damage from Hurricane Dolly, which tore up
most of
One-third of a block from the Gulf beaches—on a quiet residential
street—117 E. Georgia Ruth (Google it), RP is a
short walk from a convenience store, shopping, restaurants and entertainment.
You’ll love sitting out on the porch and feeling the ever-present Gulf
breeze. You can open the windows to enjoy the breeze inside.
If you are looking for plush, Red Parrot may not be for you. If you are looking for a charming old
fashioned beach bungalow, you will bring great memories home from the RP. The RP is great for kids and housebroken
pets. If you have anyone in your party who has difficulty walking up a flight
of stairs, RP will be a challenge.
If you want a great spot for a large family, friends, or group get-together,
try it.
There is a partial Gulf view from a couple of rooms and from the back porch,
but you only have to walk less than half a block to the east, to kick off your
shoes, and let the warm white SPI sand sift through your toes.

We
are retired grandparents. Our home is on a lake many people visit when they are
on vacation. We enjoy family, duplicate bridge, and travel--and we are always
glad to return to our home base. Our second home is on beautiful
Why
the Owner Chose Other
We
bought Red Parrot because we found it to be charming. It is centrally
located--near everything we might want on the island. And the island affords
beautiful beaches that stretch for 20 some odd miles. You can drive on to the
beach and travel to areas where there are no other humans--just you, some
critters, majestic dunes, shells, driftwood and whatever else has washed up
during the night. Red Parrot is our base from which we travel the island--and
periodically sojourn to other sites available throughout the
The
Unique Benefits of this House
What
is unique to the Red Parrot experience? For us it is the quiet togetherness we
feel as we go about enjoying our days in and around Red Parrot. That's not to
say there's no excitement or TV, movies, the internet, and so on to entertain
us. It's that we choose to spend the time here with each other, walking the
beach, enjoying the wonderful and inexpensive restaurants here and just across
the bridge in Port Isabel--or reading a book on the porch or on the beach.
